"Personally speaking, I am not pro or con against those things, since I never used them, and I don't really care if people do. I mean, I am not a star athlete, so I don't really think about things such as that. Hey, if they want to do that, and they get a heart attack, I don't lose sleep over it, especially since it means I can take their spot, and besides, if they don't like me, one less piece of garbage to inhabit this earth, and get in the way of my goals. I say, let them do what they wish, when they die of an overdose, two words for them: Good Riddance. End of story"

"Victor, I understand your point of view. However, sports are based on the human body and mind. It's essentially like modifying your body and giving a clear unfair advantage over those who put in the hard work and effort to work their way up to become professionals. Maybe if you worked as hard as some of the pros, you could be playing with them too. Everyone who fought their way up to be a pro deserves that slot on the roster, and they don't deserve to be overshadowed by someone who took the easy road and shot themselves up with testosterone. This doesn't even touch upon the harm they do for someone's body. The long term effects are detremental and can ruin an athlete's life later on. Also, the "roid rage" factor is huge. The athletes would become total hot heads and fights would be come so much more frequent and it would take the focus off the actual games. These people are not garbage, They want to be seen and appreciated for their talents. Please don't be so insensitive. BADABOOM."

"the harsh reality is many star atheletes have used performance enhancing drugs to improve there performance.however the drug alone does not make an athlete a star. hard work and dedication including constant exercise is involved. im going to play devils advocate a second and say this.did you know that steroid use only improves the performance of an athelete in strength and endurance it will do absoultly nothing to actually increase there agiltitly skill in the sport or improve how much oxygen gets from there heart to there lungs under heavy amounts of pressure.no athelete is truly equal drugs or no drugs. an athele who has a better diet then another athelete has a clear advantage over an athelete who eats terribly.the athelete with the better diet if they are at similar skill levels should win and its not cheating.im an athelete myself I don't really consider it cheating to do drugs.i don't do drugs myself but if someone wants to risk there life to win a race fine not my problem.i'v learned from experience that people are going to be better then me and blaming someones drug use on me not winning is kind of stupid. I know even with the drugs you still need to exercise and work hard. people will have amazing coaches,i'll live withit"

"even though i understand where your coming from and i slightly agree,i dont think in this situation it should be allowed.Think about it if you were the one to have a favourite sport and you wanted to pursue it in the future as a job , and after years of training and working hard you get the job but all of a sudden you realize people on your team and the opposing teams are taking PE (performance enhancing) drugs but YOU didn't want to take it because of your beliefs and moral rights how would you feel? plus this is sport its meant to be a fun yet competitive game not serious to the point where you risk your health and bring other players down who are against taking drugs and rely on their own skills whilst worrying your family and friends i mean if you need to take drugs to satisfy your ability to play then clearly you have some really serious insecurities and shouldn't play or if you love taking drugs and things like that then get a game league of your own then you guys can endure the long term painful effects and worry those you care about sick, thank you for your time of reading this and i hope you consider my point of view without clouded judgements."

"This is a capitalist society, of course drug use should be allowed. It's taboo to talk about it because people are trying to control each others view points for their own benefit. If Bob takes a pill and decides he no longer wants to listen to Dan his manager/boss/priest/cop then it becomes a problem for the controller in the situation. This is all about population control and getting people to stop asking questions and take orders, regardless of their intentions and the consequences. We should take drugs. We would not be here today weren't it not for them."

"and some drugs will kill you very painfully and slowly without you realizing it. yes i am grateful for some drugs that does help ease pain or cure things but i think those are the only that should be allowed look at the thing you do when your under the influence. you worry your parents who care for you and you create damage to your own body.if you don't care about yourself do you at least love and care for your parents? because if you did you wouldn't be doing this and also if you had any self respect you wouldn't either. i think people who take drugs should become a bigger person and stop taking them or at least try to they can easily get help and give themselves a better life. Apart from that i kind of agree with the the rest of your speech also remember we are not in control no matter how much people say this is a free country the government can easily change that and we should be careful with who we choose and not be clouded by our judgements but see from both perspective and try and come to an agreement which will satisfy everyone or the majority of people and try and keep as much peace as we can. i hope you consider my point of view"

  • -16 +27 -43 Jerald Tan Jul. 14, 2011
"Bannind PEDs doesn't help anything in fact more athletes have been termed"cheaters" because they use PEDs...athletes use all sorts of dietary supplements, exercises, equipment, clothing, training regimes, medical treatments, etc. to enhance their performance. There is nothing 'natural' about taking:
    i. vitamin pills
    ii. whole-body Lycra suits
    iii. surgery on ligaments
iv. spending every day in a gym pumping weights
    v. running in shoes with spikes on the bottom, etc.

Diet, medicine, technology, and even just coaching already give an artificial advantage to those athletes who can afford the best of all these aids. Since there is no clear way to distinguish from legitimate and illegitimate artificial aids to performance, they should all be allowed."

"We should not accept performance enhancing drugs. In reality, many professional athletes have used those drugs, but it is obvious if famous athletes use those drugs, it must affect many young athletes (high school, college, and even younger generation) who want to be a famous and great athlete. Little by little, drug circumstance surrounding athletes (even though young athletes) will expand and get them involved in the bad stream, if we accept drugs. Finally, it causes and develops lifelong physical, mental, and social issues due to an addiction and side effects by performance enhancing drugs."

The purpose of a competition would be just watered down from winning and bringing honor to one and one's nation, to simply seeing who can consume more drugs before the competition so that they can get hold of the cash. Yet, such an image would be so heart wrenching.Drugs like this would turn sports into meaningless battles of who could get bigger muscles there would be no point in watching sports if all it was is people weighing 400 pounds and be the fastest. Drugs are a waste of money and time for both people paying to watch and people playing the sport. Thus, this belief should definitely fall."

"People shouldn't use drugs because it makes the game unfair if one team is clean and the other is using drugs."

"The team that's clean has the advantage really -- when you use drugs, it distorts you mind (along with a ton of other things), so it has more downfalls that advantages."

"I think that if athletes want to use the drugs, they should be allowed to compete, but if they set a record or win, it doesnt count. I think many people would find all their hard work and training mean more to them than the drugs if they will never be able to "win" doing them.
Maybe then we will see some decline in usage eh?"

"I don't think using drugs to enhance performance. It's not fair. If there is who take drugs gets high score, then other people would use drugs too. Using drugs for sports leads many negative effects. It can't be accepted."

"PEDs are should not be used, they may not affect the users much, but those users are highly, valued role models. What it shows to children who look up to them is this, why be fair use substances to reach your goal even if that goal is something easily attained. That is what children see in their role models such as famous: football players, weight lifters, track men. When these athletes uses these substances kids follow in step behind them. However the followers usually worst then the original users and start going from bad to worst. Kids could start using crystal, crack or drugs as such to obtain their goals, like being rich, well this drugs will get them there at a bad cost though. Why let other generations follow suit, this is especially why there should be a stop to PED use."

"I strongly believe that athletes should not take drugs. Using drugs, such as steroids harms their body. Yes, it may help them win many competitions, but your health is more important than winning. If you win by taking a drug, you're only cheating yourself. You're not getting anywhere, without putting your effort into it. Put the effort, don't cheat yourself, and if you don't do so well. Keep trying and you'll succeed, but don't do anything to cheat yourself because in reality you know that competition you won, wasn't meant for you. Just remember "Cheaters never win" and "Winners never cheat". If you don't take drugs and win, you will feel much better and proud of yourself. Because you know that the effort you put in was 100%, without using anything to cheat yourself!"

"Although the performance enhancing chemicals help a player's performance, they are not thinking about their own life. Their health is at risk while taking these drugs. A single pill is all it takes for them to become addicted. The more they take, the more they want. It all becomes a small cycle. Many do not know that it can become addictive for one to become stronger.
It is also unfair for other sports players that have these natural talents. Taking these drugs could just defeat the point of the game. That is why in some schools no athlete is allowed to play if they are on steroids. In competitions people are disqualified if they are tested positive."

"This is ridiculous. You say people should be allowed to make their own choices? Well guess what, if one person starts using steroids, then everyone else would feel pressured to do the same. It's not a personal choice, it would affect everyone else who plays the sport. It's not fair that someone should feel like they have to do that to themself in order to compete."

"Using steroids is bad for the athlete, and the young athletes. When the young athlete hears about the older athlete, this puts influence on that younger athlete...Steroids give an unfair advantage to the people who don't cheat! The drugs mess with your mind and eyes, and play tricks on you in your vascular system. Also when people do drugs they lack Sportsmanship, Fun and Joy, and team Dedication,,, etc."
